Why I’m running
Good decisions begin by hearing each other.
I’m not running because I have all the answers. I don’t.
Kamloops will be better served if we are willing to listen to each other, ask difficult questions, work through disagreements and figure things out together. My background is in building design, construction and business. In that world, you rarely accomplish anything worthwhile alone: you understand the problem, bring the right people together and find a practical way forward.
I decided to put my hand up and be part of the conversation.

About Ivory
A building designer, business owner, husband and father.
Before working in building design, I worked hands-on in construction as a carpenter and concrete finisher. Today, my work brings me alongside homeowners, businesses, contractors, consultants and local governments on projects throughout B.C.
A lot of what I do is simply listening: what is somebody trying to accomplish, what are the constraints, what isn’t working, and who needs to be part of the conversation?Outside of work, my family and community are a huge part of my life.
I’ve spent many years involved in volunteer and community leadership, and I care deeply about creating a city where people feel they belong and where we look out for one another.

Different perspectives make better decisions.
Council will not always agree, and I don’t think it should. We should be able to disagree without making it personal. I want questions welcomed, different points of view heard, and decisions made with as much relevant information as we can reasonably gather.
Leadership means asking good questions, bringing the right people together, giving people room to contribute and helping a team move forward.

Making everyday life work better while planning responsibly for the future.
These priorities are still developing. I’m listening, asking questions and will refine these positions as the campaign progresses.

No provincial or federal political party is behind this campaign. I’m running for municipal office and focusing on the issues facing Kamloops.
